Haha, this definitely made me smile, and laugh for a good long minute. There is a good chance I am sitting just to her left there actually, which makes sense since she is smiling to her right. I should have made my move then.

thanks for always having our back, beth! You could read "the smile" post on shaun's blog to know that it is his goal to get my grandma to smile when he is serving her coffee.

I am showing him here that it is possible!

So, your grandma doesn't read your blog right? Her identity in my blog has seemingly reached too far. I'm scared someone is now bound to tell her. You, the one person I was mildly worried about figuring it out spotted it immediately. Now I fear the next time I see her I am gonna be unable to act properly, feeling paranoid and nervous and thinking she somehow knows and that any smile I get is forced. If she does find out I hope she won't be offended at all, and I hope no one beats me up either.

i reread everything to make sure all was okay, and it is, in my opinion. i don't think she'd be offended and bethany lives about 11 hours away, so no beating.

mom and I went to the M this morning, but no Shaun... too bad, I wanted to see what he would do to get her to smile!

Oh man, now your mom is even getting in on it. I am gonna be so embarrassed the next time she comes in now. Especially if someone who knows is with her. It will be like I'm there to put on a show for everyone to see what I will do. Hopefully I'll be up to the challenge. I'm glad you think she wouldn't be offended. After all, I only wanted the smile because I wanted her to like me. So if she ever does find out about this whole thing, or reads any of it, I hope it makes her smile. If your mom wants to try again, tell her I work mondays starting at 1130. I'll be ready.

shaun,
some ideas: aunt barb really likes to laugh...she likes bike riding and cooking...tea(!) and coffee...
i think you should compliment her on something and i bet she will smile. good luck...
oh...i won't beat you up for uncle jerry - he can do that himself...he is feisty for 70.
peace.
